It brands itself as a neutral purveyor of “unbiased news,” but The Associated Press (AP) is heavily influenced in its reporting by powerful and well-funded left-wing organizations.
The nation’s top wire service, the AP is bankrolled to the tune of millions of dollars by far-left groups that include one called the Ida B. Wells Society, which was founded by “1619 Project” author Nikole Hannah-Jones. The AP also maintains strategic “partnerships” with entities that essentially bribe reporters to cover climate change, race, and democracy issues from a biased perspective.
“A review of the donor roster shows that the vast majority fund left-wing political causes, while none are supporters of conservative initiatives,” The Washington Free Beacon reports.
Hannah-Jones, by the way, recently teamed up with filmmaker Steven Spielberg’s Hearthland Foundation to foster “more inclusive storytelling” at the AP. The word “inclusive” is usually code for anti-white and pro-everything not white.
Ron Nixon, the AP’s global investigations editor, just so happens to serve on the board of the Ida B. Wells Society’s board of directors. Hannah-Jones, meanwhile, is a highly controversial figure whose account of the allegedly true motivations of the American revolutionaries is heavily disputed by historians.

The AP launched another questionable program called the “democracy journalism initiative” that aims to cover “the intersection of race and voting.” This division is funded by the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation, which funds failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams’ New Georgia Project, as well as the left-wing activist group Take Back the Court.
Time and time again, the AP has criticized the now-conservative leaning Supreme Court, “far-right conservatives,” and “GOP election tactics” that it says are disenfranchising black voters.
“Though the Associated Press is funded largely by subscriptions from the thousands of news organizations that pay to license its content, its donors shell out millions to subsidize coverage of some of the country’s most divisive political issues,” the Beacon further explains.
“It is unclear when the AP began entering such partnerships, but they have proved lucrative in recent years.”
In 2022, the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation contributed half a million dollars to the AP’s democracy journalism institute. That group has also criticized the Supreme Court, most recently over its decision to overturn the highly racist policy known as affirmative action.
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation contributed $2.5 million to the AP’s climate and education reporting verticals, as well as $400,000 to the democracy journalism institute. The foundation is also a heavy contributor to Planned Parenthood and Advocates for Youth, both of which are now promoting transgenderism in young children.
“The AP takes in millions more from philanthropies – the Hewlett Foundation, Walton Family Foundation, and others – to fund reporting on climate change, such as stories that this summer’s heat wave is due to global warming, that President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act boosted America’s ‘climate credibility,’ and that climate activists have ramped up protests against the ’emissions-spewing lifestyles of the ultrawealthy,'” the Beacon explains.
The AP has veered so far from its roots that the media bias tracking firm AllSides last year changed its rating from “center” to “leans left,” citing an increase in “word choice bias” and “bias by omission of views” in the wire service’s reporting.
Because the AP’s content is “broad and far-reaching,” AllSides says it closely monitors everything the wire service puts out for public consumption.
The mainstream media produces very little, if any, truth because of special interest influence and control over the “news.” Learn more at Propaganda.news.
