The company behind former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social has launched a new “uncancellable” streaming service called Truth+.
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) announced that it is in the beginning stages of rolling out Truth+ to deliver news, political commentary, lifestyle and entertainment programming. This was confirmed by TMTG CEO Devin Nunes in an Aug. 2 press release.
“First, we created Truth Social to provide a safe harbor for free speech on the internet,” said Nunes, a former Republican congressman from California. “Now, we’re establishing a reliable home for great TV content that is neglected by the big corporations or is at risk of cancellation. We are securing our own tech stack and hardware infrastructure to make our new [content delivery network] uncancellable.”
Initial offerings on Truth+ include channels comprising news, commentary, weather, lifestyle and entertainment. Programming will be expanded as the streaming rollout continues, which will include Christian content and family-friendly content.
Aside from this, TMTG also shared that it plans to integrate Truth+ with the Truth Social app for devices powered by Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. Clicking the Truth+ icon in the app will enable this feature, the press release continued.
“The introduction of these channels is the initial phase of [Truth+]. The next phase is expected to feature the introduction of streaming apps integrated with the Truth Social platform that will offer enhanced features – including an interactive 14-day electronic guide, instant catch-up TV on any show broadcast in the previous seven days, network [digital video recording], video on demand and more. Following that, TMTG plans to introduce apps that provide the ability to watch streaming content on in-home TV sets.”
Trump was banned from Twitter following the Jan. 6, 2021 false-flag riot in the U.S. Capitol. In the same year, he established Truth Social to stand up to the “tyranny of Big Tech.” Nunes, a close ally of the former president in Congress, resigned from his position as a lawmaker in December 2021 to serve as the CEO of TMTG the month after.
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk later acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022, subsequently renaming it X. He then polled users in 2023 whether Trump’s account should be reinstated, with almost 52 percent in favor of the move.
Musk restored Trump’s account after a ban of roughly two years, but this failed to convince the real estate mogul to return to posting. Since then, Trump has only made one post on X – a picture of his mugshot after he was booked into the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.
Trump’s move to launch Truth+ was reminiscent of a similar move by Tucker Carlson. The former Fox News host launched his new streaming platform, Tucker Carlson Network (TCN), late last year. (Related: Tucker Carlson launches new STREAMING PLATFORM to combat MSM propaganda.)
“News coverage in the West has become a tool of repression and control. Reporters no longer reveal essential information to the public; they work to hide it. Journalists act as censors on behalf of entrenched power. They have contempt for the public. They hate the truth,” Carlson explained the rationale for TCN on his website.
“Democracy can’t function in a society like this. Voters can’t know what they’re voting for. People do understand they’re being manipulated, and they resent it. The population becomes angry and paranoid. Things fall apart.”
According to Carlson, the solution to the ongoing “propaganda spiral” is by “telling the truth about the things that matter – clearly and without fear.” He promised to fulfill this task through TCN, which will tell the truth “every day, no matter what.”
